About Panda Express
Panda Express, located at 2120 E Florence Ave, Walnut Park, CA 90255, is a prominent fast-food chain specializing in Chinese cuisine with a focus on American Chinese dishes. Established in 1983 by Andrew and Peggy Cherng, along with Andrew’s father, Master Chef Ming-Tsai Cherng, the brand has grown from a modest family-run restaurant into the largest Asian-American restaurant chain in the United States. The Walnut Park location continues this legacy by offering a menu that balances traditional Chinese flavors with American tastes, catering to a broad audience seeking quick, flavorful meals[1][2][5].
The origins of Panda Express trace back to the Cherng family’s first restaurant, Panda Inn, opened in 1973 in Pasadena, California. The family’s culinary heritage from Yangzhou, China, combined with Andrew and Peggy’s innovative business approach, laid the foundation for Panda Express’s success. Peggy Cherng’s background in mathematics and electrical engineering played a crucial role in the early adoption of technology within the restaurant’s operations. She developed sophisticated computer systems to streamline ordering, inventory management, and customer data analysis, giving Panda Express a competitive edge in the fast-food industry from its inception[1][4][5][6].
Panda Express is renowned for its signature dishes, most notably the Original Orange Chicken, created in 1987 by Chef Andy Kao. This dish, inspired by flavors from China’s Hunan province, features crispy chicken bites coated in a sweet and spicy orange sauce and has become a staple favorite among customers nationwide. The menu also includes other popular items such as Beijing Beef and Honey Walnut Shrimp, which showcase the brand’s commitment to offering diverse and appealing options. In recent years, Panda Express has introduced health-conscious selections under its Wok Smart™ program, featuring dishes with 300 calories or less and at least 8 grams of protein, reflecting the company’s responsiveness to evolving consumer preferences for healthier fast-food choices[1][3].
The Walnut Park Panda Express exemplifies the chain’s dedication to quality, convenience, and community engagement. With a phone number of +1 323-277-9486, this location serves as a convenient dining option for residents and visitors seeking quick-service Chinese cuisine without compromising on flavor or freshness. The restaurant’s fast-food format allows for efficient service, making it ideal for busy individuals and families. Moreover, Panda Express’s philanthropic arm, Panda Cares, underscores the company’s commitment to giving back by supporting underserved children and disaster relief efforts, reinforcing its role as a socially responsible business[3].
Over the decades, Panda Express has expanded beyond mall food courts to predominantly freestanding locations, including the Walnut Park site, which benefits from a strategic location in California’s vibrant food scene. The brand’s growth is a testament to its ability to blend traditional culinary skills with modern business practices, creating a unique dining experience that resonates with a wide demographic. Whether customers are seeking classic American Chinese dishes or lighter, health-conscious meals, Panda Express at Walnut Park offers a reliable and flavorful option that honors its rich heritage while embracing innovation[1][2][3][5].

Ever since They switched out the plastic bowl with their new paper bowl I feel like I’m getting less and paying more it’s going to be the reason why I’m never gonna come back to panda express. I’m not willing to pay $10 PLUS TAX For a scoop of super greens and chicken especially when you can go to A neighborhood Chinese food and they give you so much love. you be paying $10 but you could feed like two people

I paid $4 extra for Black Pepper Steak but only received two Orange Chicken entrees in my to-go family meal.......Please make sure to check your to-go order before leaving this location.

Portion size is pretty bad. *Look at picture to see. Orange chicken is ok but beef and broccoli!? Where’s the beef all I see is broccoli. If I wanted greens I would’ve ordered super greens instead. Food looks good. Portion size is now being an issue. Chipotle had the same problem and the CEO fixed that issue now. Don’t follow chipotle, panda.
